The bogie-hearth furnace is a batch-type furnace with a single, undivided heating chamber. Structurally, the furnace features a movable bogie that serves as the hearth.
Before heating, the bogie is loaded outside the furnace, with the workpieces placed on specialized support blocks; a hauling mechanism then pulls the bogie into the furnace for the heating process. Once heating is complete, the mechanism pulls the bogie back out for unloading, after which the heated workpieces may be transferred by crane to forging or pressing equipment for further processing.
