1. Before performing maintenance, operators must be familiar with the following aspects of the bogie-hearth furnace:
A. The structure and performance of the electric furnace and its auxiliary equipment.
B. The layout of the power distribution and control systems, as well as the locations of safety devices.
C. Operating procedures and safety protocols.
2. Pre-operation checks:
A. Check the power supply for normal operation; look for issues such as phase loss, short circuits, or exposed wiring.
B. Check the grounding connections to ensure good contact.
C. Inspect heating elements for damage, ensure secure connections, and verify that there is no contact between elements and the furnace body or casing.
D. Check the temperature control system for any abnormalities.
E. Verify the proper operation of the furnace door lifting mechanism and the bogie's entry/exit movement.
3. Workpieces emitting corrosive, volatile, or explosive gases are strictly prohibited from being processed in the furnace to prevent damage to heating elements and refractory materials, or accidents such as explosions.
4. Do not operate the furnace above its rated temperature, as this will shorten the equipment's service life.
5. Remove excessive scale from workpieces before loading them into the furnace; a wire brush may be used for this purpose.
6. Stack workpieces evenly, maintaining a clearance of approximately 100–150 mm from the heating elements.
7. Rough handling is strictly prohibited; place workpieces gently to avoid impact.
8. Operators must not leave their posts while the furnace is in use and must constantly monitor its operating status.
9. Before loading or unloading workpieces, the power supply to the heating elements must be disconnected to ensure operator safety.
10. Regularly remove oxide deposits from the furnace chamber (including areas beneath the heating elements)-at least once a week or every five furnace cycles. Use compressed air to clean the area beneath the furnace hearth plate.
11. Once the resistance wires have been put into service, avoid bumping or bending them to prevent breakage.
12. Precautions:
A. Regularly inspect the furnace motor, add lubricant as needed, and observe safety protocols.
B. Frequently inspect and lubricate the drive shaft bushing to prevent damage caused by a lack of lubricant.
C. Periodically inspect the condition of the heating elements. D. Periodically verify the performance of instruments and thermocouples to prevent temperature measurement errors caused by inaccuracies in the equipment .
